Through the Public Safety Office-Office of the Governor (OOG) Homeland Security Grants Division (HSGD), RGCOG has been tasked with the responsibility for regional homeland security planning efforts for the six-county region. The RGCOG coordinates and supports jurisdictions in building, sustaining capabilities that prevent, protect against, mitigate, response to, and recover from the threats and hazards that pose the greatest risk. Regional planning activities include:
- Identify and address gaps through the annual State Preparedness Report (SPR) and the Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (THIRA).
- Coordinate and prepare the region’s SPR and THIRA.
- Notification of HSGD availability of funding within the fund source of: Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSP), SHSP Law Enforcement grant program, and Non-profit Security Grant Program (NSGP).
- Application prioritization.
- Technical assistance.
